Ulf Gerdtham obtained his PhD in Health Economics from the Department of Health and Society, Linkopings. He received his BA in Public Administration (Advanced Economics and Statistics) from Hogskolan I Orebro.
Ulf joined the Health Economics Research Unit (HERU) in August 2007. He is also Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Aberdeen. He works on different areas within health economics research, although in recent years he have focused particularly on the effects of economic factors at the individual level on health and health care as well as effects of contextual area level and time dependent factors, inequalities in health and economic consequences of health related behaviour. Other areas of his research interests are economic evaluations of health interventions, health system effects on health care costs and productivity. Ulf is also still related with his former university, University of Lund in Sweden, where he is the principal investigator of the Health Economics Program (HEP) at the Department of Clinical Sciences which have been provided with financial support from a leading Swedish research council for the coming six years. Potentially, this will lead to interesting two-way collaborations between health economists and labour economists at the two universities.
Ulf has now moved from the University of Aberdeen to Lund University, Sweden.
